Creative Project Award Nominations
The Creative Project Award for the COLLEGE Requirement seeks to highlight the ever growing diversity of non-essay projects generated by students, such as innovative documentaries, paintings, origami figures, and computer programs. The goal of this award is to promote creative ways of demonstrating learning in courses which fulfill the Thinking Matters requirement.
Winning projects will be featured in a digital exhibit on the VPUE website, and may also be shared on the Stanford Undergrad Instagram. Students will also be awarded a $50 gift certificate in recognition of their accomplishment, and instructors will receive a small thank you gift.
Eligibility:
- Projects must be nominated by a course instructor (i.e. a COLLEGE Fellow, SLE or ITALIC lecturer, ESF writing instructor, etc.)
- Projects must have been created by a current undergraduate student or small group of students in the context of a class assignment for an eligible program. Current eligible programs are COLLEGE, Thinking Matters, ESF, ITALIC, and SLE.
- Projects must be primarily creative; in other words, they demonstrate critical thinking through creative expression. While we know a great deal of creativity goes into a good academic essay, traditional written work can already be honored by other prizes such as the Boothe prize. The Creative Project Award seeks to acknowledge work which demonstrates the same high level of thoughtfulness while also experimenting with the format in which such thinking can be displayed.
